School Days 2009

Wednesday, September 9, 2009

Note from Jennifer (09/08/09)...Well, it has happened...both of our kids are now in school! Here are some 1st day pictures. You only see Matt in the bus picture because Megan was so excited and talking with her friends. I think I got a 2 second wave from her. :) Matt was excited to go to school. I went for a run and happened to run by the school just before Megan and Matt were going in and they were holding hands with Megan telling Matt she would get him to his room....she has such a big heart and takes such good care of her brother! Chris and I are very blessed with 2 wonderful kids! All thanks be to God! ...Jennifer

---------------

Note from Chris (09/07/09)...I FINALLY finished the playhouse for this year. Next year I'll build some furniture type stuff for the inside. I didn't think the windows, doors, trim and paint would take soooo long. As you can, of the four sides there are two for Matt and two for Megan, can you guess which is which? As a packer fan no one can accuse me of not loving my kids, ha ha...Chris

---------------

I am going to the Cities on Friday after work and will stay at Julie's house. We are going to see "this guy" at the Target Center on Saturday....really...it's true.

Update on the loose tooth...still has the tooth.

But...she is working on it.

==========

I had a small luncheon for a few friends from work in August before school started. My mother was kind enough to help get everything ready for us. We had a great lunch and lots of laughter!

Starting on the left is Sherry, my mother,
MaryEdna
(retired in April), Jill and Andrea.

Since you can't see Jill in the above picture I figured to
"play it safe" I would take a picture of Jill and MaryEdna.
==========

I was in the Cities August 25-29. We decided to go school shopping for the children.

The children are so good in the car. Matthew played his Nintendo DS.

Meggie listened to music on her iPod.

We spent a day shopping and had lunch in Roseville.

==========

On Thursday Julie and I took the children to Como Park for the day.

We saw flamingos (I love flamingos).

We saw the new baby gorilla.

We say the new baby giraffe.

After looking at the animals the children went on the rides. Meggie loves the rides...Matthew is much more cautious.

We got our tickets.

The first ride Meggie went on was the roller coaster. Julie was going to go with her BUT Meggie decided to go herself.

Meggie is in the first car and can't wait for it to begin.

The swings.

Frog Hopper (Meggie is on the right).

Matthew and I went on the teacup ride.

We went to the butterfly house. A butterfly landed on Julie's shirt.

Before we left we bought cotton candy...the children were thrilled.

==========

Friday Julie and I went on our yearly outing to the Minnesota State Fair. We try and go thru all of the buildings.

Mona Lisa?????

In the creative building, on display, was this chair that was painted.
Reminded me of my mother's chairs that she decoupaged.

I, like Matthew, do not like rides.
I can't believe people actually go on these rides that high in the air.

We found the horses. They certainly were beautiful and very, very big.
Next year we are going to plan our day around a horse show.

In the DNR area we sat and listened to this band.
They are called the Brass Kings...they are a blue grass
band from the Cities.

A lot of people at the fair. We went on day two and both
days there were record crowds. The weather was beautiful!

==========

I have three years until retirement and needed an incentive to keep me working for the next three years... a car payment. I ordered a new car in July and 6.5 weeks later it arrived. So, after just getting back from the Cities, three days later I went back to the Cities to pick up my new car. It is a 2010 Subaru Outback...does everything but fill the tank with gas. I have reserved and ordered personalize license plates which take 4-6 weeks. My license plate will read...TURKOIS...I wear turquoise everyday so the plate is fitting.

==========

The Buckshot Run was held on Saturday, September 5, 2009. Jennifer was able to make the run this year so Jennifer, Meggie and Julie came down on Friday. Matthew and Chris were planning on coming also but Matthew had a cold and wasn't feeling well so they stayed home.

We had stir-fry for dinner Friday evening. We were discussing "the tooth". So Auntie Julie was elected to see if she could get the tooth out.

No such luck! So on to dessert.

==========

Buckshot Run...
Meggie is set to go...nice socks!

Jennifer putting her number on.

Meggie liked this character.

Jill feels pretty proud of herself...she has been trying to get Jennifer to come down for the run for several years and finally got her down here. Jill is already planning for next year...Jennifer will do the run, Meggie, Julie and I will do the two mile walk??????
Getting warmed up.

Jennifer and Meggie before the race.

Waiting for the race to begin...

The race is on.

While we were waiting for Jennifer to finish,
Meggie and Julie played in the park.

Jennifer coming to the finish line (#126)...

The race is finished.

Jennifer and Andrea.
Andrea coordinated the entire Buckshot Run!
Great job Andrea!!!!!

Jill and Andrea.

We parked next to Jill's newish car.
She is very protective of her car, almost as anal as I am.
We thought it would be very funny to leave a note on her windshield.
So Jennifer wrote and left the following note on her windshield.

So, after the race we walked back to Jill's car with her..she saw the note
and immediately ran to the back of her car...and..I must say...
a few choice words were said.

When she couldn't find the scratch she saw that
Jennifer and Julie were laughing and knew then it was a joke.

GOTCHA!

As you can see I have had a very busy few months. Hopefully my next blog won't be as long and I will be able to update sooner. Summer 2009 was great!
