June 2, 2010
Greetings! I am, once again, several days behind on my monthly blog. May was a busy, busy month...the weather was great so it was hard to be inside the house.
BLUE SKY!
The exciting news is...Matthew lost his first tooth!
Crazy hair day at school.
We went to Blair to visit Jeanette and Howard...we had a great lunch. Jeanette loaned me several albums that contain very old pictures of the family...those albums will keep me busy for many winters. I will let you know when I have them posted on my SmugMug page...I am afraid if I start scanning pictures now I will spend all my summer inside the house...so, I am not even going to look at the albums until October...well...maybe late September.
Jeanette and Howard's home.
The two sisters...they still look alike.
We also took a road trip to southern Wisconsin...it was our "cemetery run". We went to cemeteries in Boscobel, Lancaster, and Platteville.
Our first stop was the Boscobel Cemetery.
My mother's parents are buried in this cemetery.
On Hwy 61, outside of Boscobel, my mother always talks about this old house and barn that are about to fall down...she always wonders if the house and barn are still standing...well...yes they are.
On our way to the Lancaster we decided to stop and see the Burr farm. We spent some time talking with Jacque...nice to see Jacque...it has been many years. This is how I remember the farm house.
This is what the house now looks like!
We drove to Lancaster and stopped at Hillside Cemetery. My father's mother and dad are buried in this cemetery.
Our final stop on the "cemetery run" was in Platteville where my mother's dear friend Guerdon is buried.
On the way back home we drove by the Kickapoo Trading Post in Readstown. This trading post has been there forever.
We drove through Viroqua...the Amish were selling their baskets. I thought this picture was so cute of this little boy...barefoot on a chilly day.
It was a very long day...I was so thankful for my Sirius radio...I listened to Elvis all the way home. As you can see the bugs were out in full force...the first item on my agenda, when I got home, was to wash my car.
I recently connected up with some very dear friends I hadn't seen in years...Cindi and Ann...we met in Woodbury for a very long lunch...and...had such a great time talking...we hope to get together again soon.
Julie came to Eau Claire for a weekend and, of course, we went to Olive Garden for dinner.
I was in the Cities for few days...went to lunch with Meggie and Matthew.
Matthew's kindergarten class grew grass.
Stayed with Julie for a couple of nights. She has very pretty flowers in front of her townhome.
Last weekend Julie and I spent the day with Meggie and Matthew. One of the games we played was Rummikub.
It was a very hot day...in the 90's...out came the Slip N Slide.
Some flowers around Jennifer and Chris' yard.
I was leaving Blaine last Sunday and saw mom, dad, and babies out for a morning stroll.
Jennifer, Chris, Megan, and Matthew spent a weekend at Trout Lake Camp.
Here are some flowers and wild life in our yard.
The morning doves come each night for dinner.
The squirrels NEVER give up!
Our new white squirrel...yippee.
The rabbits come to munch...Liquid Fence really works(??)
Once again this year we have a Topsy Turvy...this one is for plants. Julie gave it to her Granny for her birthday.
Week 1
Funny how time flies when you are having fun! Enjoy the sunny days!
